So you adopted it but weren’t able to take it home? I’m a little confused. Super happy to hear your cat is feeling better though!

No, we weren’t able to get him at all. Someone had put in an adoption form before us and I guess they were waiting to hear back from their landlord. This wasn’t made to known to us (and all but one of the employees was in the dark as well). So we were ready to take him home but he already belonged to someone else.

personal (pet!) stuff under the cut

Me and my husband have been wanting to get a friend for our cat Radar for a while now. But Radar needed surgery first (and had a bit of a rough go with that) so we decided to wait until he was alright again to start looking for his friend. He’s officially on the mend now and back to being the purr monster I know and love so we’ve been cruising PetFinder recently.

There are a few shelters in my area. One is hosted through the local PetSmart and I saw a cat there (orange, sweet, lovable), and decided that maybe this was ‘the one’. So hubs and I meet the cat and he’s wonderful. He loves being held. He gives hugs and kisses. He’s basically pure love with orange fur. How this sweet little creature survived an entire year as a stray is anybody’s guess. We start going through the adoption process, fill out the forms, chat with the volunteers, we go over his paperwork. They go to do their approvals and then about 10 minutes later we find out someone put in an adoption form before us. And that’s that. I relinquish the cat. We drive home.

I mean, on the plus side- he still got adopted! But I can’t say I’m not a little upset. Bad timing, I guess.

blinkpinkinc:

The husband of friend of mine—and of the knitting community as Rare Purls on Ravelry—died last night after a long struggle pulmonary fibrosis.

A lung transplant would have saved his life, but my friend is disabled and so could not afford the drugs that would stop his body from rejecting the transplant.

He was denied and given subpar medical care up until his death last night. Now, his wife has a mountain of medical bills, an upcoming funeral to pay for … and only a disability pension to pay it on.

In light of this, a fundraiser has been set up. If you are so inclined, please toss a few dollars her way, or even pass the link on. Thank you.
