I love you all, I really do! It’s because of you that Raven: Pirate Princess has been able to continue! We’re prepping year 3 right now, which I feel like I should let you know starts off with a story simply titled “Date Night” where this book will straight up become a romance comic for four issues.
But while we’re waiting on that, i have a present and a request! If you are or you think your friends might be interested in a soap opera about queer lady pirates, revenge, romance, and sometimes a monster or two – This post has a link to the first issue of Raven: Pirate Princess absolutely free!
Please, if you haven’t read it, check it out! If you have or it doesn’t sound like your thing, but you know somebody who might like it, share it! By all means! It’s the whole first issue, so feel free to download it, reblog it, tweet it, link it from your instagram, email, print it out and send it to a friend! I want you to have it and I want you to share it! All I ask is that you include these two links below:
The are currently 25 issues of this series or 6 collected volumes! If you like the first one, please jump in there and buy some more. Get them for yourself, ask for them for Christmas, get them for someone else for Christmas!
This book is tons of fun and I hope you love it! Be sure to come back and let me know who your favorite character is.
If you’re someone who wants to make original stuff for people to see, DO IT!!!
Your worth as an artist is not determined by the number of Tumblr notes you get. Followers are NOT a currency. Don’t worry about instant gratification, because you’re creating something only you can own for the rest of your life! It will take you longer to build up an audience around something that doesn’t have a pre-loaded fanbase. In fact it’ll probably take longer than you think, but you’ll have a much more satisfying artistic career.
Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?
Nick and Charlie are characters from my debut novel, Solitaire. Heartstopper updates three times a month, on the 1st, 11th, and 21st.
When you see an artist, more popular than you are, whining a lot about their lack of feedback, meanwhile you have just calmed down and found your peace about it. This morning I came across such gloom and started small depression myself, but then I got angry and decided to turn all negative emotions into creation and let off steam with this comic. Now I feel okay again c: Let’s be kinder to ourselfs, dear artists, let’s love ourselfs and don’t call our art “shit” because we create picture from emptiness!! Have you ever thought how cool this actually is? Let’s enjoy the process of creation because THIS is the most important thing. Even if you don’t have as much followers as you wish, or don’t recieve as many likes/notes/reblogs it still worth to carry on. There always will be someone more or less popular than you, but this doesn’t make you and your art less important. Maybe you are someone’s favourite and most precious artist.
took 22 hours. and then a little longer for some edits but. I’ve still got another hour till my 24 is officially up, and I’m definitely gonna be snoozing.
For having no planning except a selkie design and a rough concept of the girl, I think I did alright. I definitely pushed my self to try new things and, I’m happy about that. there are some things I’d like to tweak but… NOPE! IM DONE!
I also learned how much I can get done when I don’t distract myself so much. have to figure out how to rein that in haha.
also, if you’re curious about the title! fun fact time thanks to wikipedia (so it may or may not be true)
Envy and jealousy can sneak up on people and it can cause some serious damage emotionally and even physically! Stop comparing yourself to others, because no life is exactly the same – we each have our own obstacles and challenges to accomplish. So when you start to think the grass is greener on the other side, think about your own goals, nurture and take care of your side of the yard, because the more blessings you count in your life, the more beautiful flowers will flourish!!
This is probably the most inspiring thing I’ve seen in a while. 🙂
LITERALLY the BEST advice for any artist, ever! Heck, anyone, ever, but especially creatives, because in the world of subjectivity, art reigns supreme. But what someone likes and considers successful, someone else might not! They might think YOU are successful instead, and want to further your art growth! Artists compare each others’ work a lot, and I mean golly I’m a victim of compare/contrast every day, but what’s important is to find others who inspire you, and when you are inspired, you will be surprised at who you inspire in return! Surround yourself with people who wish to work with you, to make your work better (and of course, people you are comfortable with returning the favor)! Having that extra positivity can work wonders!
So don’t compare! Everyone is different, unique, and learns at a different pace! Work together and share knowledge, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you grow and others grow around you.
