remember that no matter how bad you feel? there are people who look up to you! dont worry about popularity, or follower counts, just work at it because YOU want to. there will be people who love it. ❤

The five types of canon.

Canon: What actually happened.

Headcanon: What you think happened, based on the characters, settings, storylines and all reasonable extrapolations thereof.

Heartcanon: What you feel ought to have happened, quite divorced from rationality or sense.

Soulcanon: What you know happened, deep down in your soul, regardless of what anyone says. Including the creators of canon, themselves.

Crotchcanon: What your gonads wish had happened, or, alternatively, what turns you on.

I generally prefer drawing figures and props over background drawing, and I’ve really started to feel how much of a liability that is. Is there any way to make drawing backgrounds fun for me, or some method that can blend it into my workflow that makes it less of a chore? Have you ever had this issue?

Drawing can’t always be fun. Sometimes you gotta hunker down and draw like a crazy person all alone in solitary confinement. Turn on music, a documentary or something that won’t need much of your vision since you’ll be drawing. Or podcasts. Sometimes you got to mentally chain yourself to the table and do something you don’t want to do. And backgrounds are quite the chore, it’s gonna be hard work.

Once you accept this truth, see your productivity skyrocket! Artists who struggle to get going are always searching for inspiration, or motivation, but the key is actually… RESIGNATION.

People who leave crit on fanfiction without being asked: Writing is easy and you deserve to be criticized for doing this, even though it’s a hobby. Your characterizations aren’t the way I like. I saw a trope that’s so unoriginal. You misspelled these words and your grammar is messed up here and here, and out of the entirety of the 50k story you wrote, I’m leaving this comment to tell you how much you suck because of those mistakes. Get a beta reader.
