Oh, their relationship is certainly very complex and nuanced. Bats despises Joker but there’s a level of respect there and fascination too. And there’s probably a fair amount of guilt, since he’s the reason Joker took his chemical bath in the first place.

Ah, the infamously vague ending of The Killing Joke. Always left me scratching my head. Like, what’s going on in the 5th panel? Is he shaking Joker? He’s certainly grabbing him in some way and his facial expression seems to shift from laughter to…something else entirely.

The current theory seems to be that Batman just looses it completely and the laughing stops because he’s snapped and killed Joker. The rest is silence, as they say.

Here’s an article and video about it: http://sequart.org/magazine/29540/on-interpreting-the-killing-jokes-ending-and-authorial-intent/

Interesting idea, anyway. 😀

Got this tip about this sweet pair:

Michelle and Juney, mother-daughter duo rescued by the ASPCA from an “environment of hardship.”
The pair is bonded, so the optimal scenario is that they are fostered and/or adopted TOGETHER.
They groom one another, cuddle and play together.

signal boost in case one of my NYC followers can help out!

Well, Arkham City, though awesome, isn’t technically canon material either. I think Bruce (or at least a well written Bruce) shows some manner of compassion to all the Bat-villains. But I don’t think that equals romance.

But let’s entertain the idea of JokerxBatman for a moment. What does that mean for the character, exactly? Well, for one, Bruce would have to either forgive or ignore the fact that Joker has murdered his second Robin, Jason Todd, crippled Barbara Gordon, kidnapped Jim Gordon, killed Sarah Essen Gordon, kidnapped his son, Damian, captured the entire Bat-Family and subjected them to a weirdo mind-fuck where he pretended he cut their faces off, and spent innumerable years torturing him and causing utter havoc in his life and in his city.  Batman would need to forget the hero schtick and willingly lay down with a murderous psychopath.

Seems impossible to me that the man who’s committed his life to justice would be able to bury those feelings completely and shack up with his nemesis.

I’m not saying you can’t enjoy the pairing. Folks are allowed to like whatever ships they like! I’m just saying I don’t personally buy it.
