Olympics!Nightcrawler

Considering how Kurt spent his entire childhood protected from the outside world by his loving circus family and spent most of his time with the X-Men surrounded by fellow mutants rather than non-mutants, I imagine that the Olympics would be Kurt’s first time constantly being around lots and lots of non-mutants.  Especially early in the competition, every day at the Olympics must be very taxing for Kurt, having to deal with people’s curiosity, ignorance, intolerance, excitement, etc.

Obviously, I got pretty lazy with backgrounds, and I had more ideas for other panels/scenes too but cut them because this comic was taking too long to finish.  Also, the “blue-skinned monkey” insult came from X-Men Unlimited #7.

aw!

Omg, okay so I lowkey hc that Kurt enjoys watching the olympics, haha!
Like what if he daydreamed about a more mutant-friendly world in which he could go completely undisguised and be part of the german men’s gymnastics team. The olympics aren’t exactly the place for his theatrics but guy loves to fix an audience and would probably relish the opportunity for another outlet for his athletic talent. He’s fond of his stage presence ‘The Incredible Nightcrawler’ but ppl assume he’s in costume in that context, how wonderful it would be to his ears to hear cheers for the rookie olympian Kurt Wagner. Granted, he’d only be allowed to compete with the understanding that the use of his tail would disqualify him. His team would have to get used to him, his appearance sure, but moreso his seemingly carefree plastered grin as they battle with nerves, frowning before their routines.
pfffft imagine Kurt sign of the cross, praise Jesus after sticking a landing on national television, i die. Meanwhile, at the Xavier Institute, the x-men tune in and argue about whether or not a legal technicality could have qualified Kurt for the American team. (Scott is supportive but disgruntled)
