002 | Give me a character & I will tell you

  • How I feel about this character: I like Alison. There’s something interesting about a disco star turned superhero.
  • All the people I ship romantically with this character: I think WarrenxAlison is interesting. I think they’ve both lived sorta unusual lives on top of being mutants.
  • My non-romantic OTP for this character:Jubes and Daz seem like they’d get on well.
  • My unpopular opinion about this character:I don’t like her new look at all. But I don’t know that that’s an unpopular opinion…
  • One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Can we just erase Inferno, please? Thank you.
  • my OTP: I don’t have one for Alison.
  • my cross over ship: Who’s on board with Dazzler and Black Canary?
  • a headcanon fact: She knows ‘Star is her kid. I mean, he’s got her hair. It’s kinda obvious.

aka JokerxHarley, I presume?

001 | send me a ship and I will tell you:

  • when I started shipping it if I did: Um, 92? So I was 10.
  • my thoughts: Yes. This is my ship.
  • What makes me happy about them: There’s something about a villainous romance that really appeals to me. They’re oddly suited for each other.
  • What makes me sad about them: They’re not terribly healthy. <—understatement of the year
  • things done in fanfic that annoys me: I could write a novel on this but here we go: Woobified completely OOC Joker who’s just head over heels in love. No. Harley Quinn as a helpless victim rather than a fucking psychopath who chose her life. Also no. Any time the relationship is treated as totally one-sided (on either end). No.
  • things I look for in fanfic: Folks that acknowledge that the ship is bent, that neither party is mentally healthy, but that there’s something there that ‘works’ however screwed up it might be. They’re not good people.
  • Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I mean, I enjoy Harley and Ivy in a different way than JokerxHarley. I feel that’s the only viable ship for Harls that isn’t Joker. It’s still warped but people have a tendency to sugercoat it. Another peev of mine. Joker…? I really don’t know. He’s not a suitable mate, generally. Heh.
  • My happily ever after for them: Maybe they could have a comic or two that was well written again? That would be a miracle.
  • who is the big spoon/little spoon: Joker is 6′5″. He has to be the big spoon.
  • what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Mayhem and McDonalds.

  • when I started shipping it if I did: Oh, man. Several years?
  • my thoughts: I ship Kurt/Kitty sorta sporadically. I think they’re super cute but I also enjoy their friendship a lot. I also really loved PrydeXWisdom so I can’t ship them 100%. Hah.
  • What makes me happy about them: They’re legit friends in the canon and have supported each other for years.
  • What makes me sad about them: They didn’t interact for a *very* long stretch for time post- Excalibur.
  • things done in fanfic that annoys me: Any time Kurt somehow gets spun as a prude.
  • things I look for in fanfic: Friend/ship, basically. Something that acknowledges their history.
  • Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:Wisdom for Pryde (though that’s probably not gonna happen with the Quill/Bendis crap) Kurt with Cerise.
  • My happily ever after for them: That neither of them dies (again) and that they get to live to old age together.
  • who is the big spoon/little spoon: Kurt seems like a big spoon cause he’d wanna wrap his tail around something.
  • what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Watching old movies.

Oh, their relationship is certainly very complex and nuanced. Bats despises Joker but there’s a level of respect there and fascination too. And there’s probably a fair amount of guilt, since he’s the reason Joker took his chemical bath in the first place.

Ah, the infamously vague ending of The Killing Joke. Always left me scratching my head. Like, what’s going on in the 5th panel? Is he shaking Joker? He’s certainly grabbing him in some way and his facial expression seems to shift from laughter to…something else entirely.

The current theory seems to be that Batman just looses it completely and the laughing stops because he’s snapped and killed Joker. The rest is silence, as they say.

Here’s an article and video about it: http://sequart.org/magazine/29540/on-interpreting-the-killing-jokes-ending-and-authorial-intent/

Interesting idea, anyway. 😀

Well, Arkham City, though awesome, isn’t technically canon material either. I think Bruce (or at least a well written Bruce) shows some manner of compassion to all the Bat-villains. But I don’t think that equals romance.

But let’s entertain the idea of JokerxBatman for a moment. What does that mean for the character, exactly? Well, for one, Bruce would have to either forgive or ignore the fact that Joker has murdered his second Robin, Jason Todd, crippled Barbara Gordon, kidnapped Jim Gordon, killed Sarah Essen Gordon, kidnapped his son, Damian, captured the entire Bat-Family and subjected them to a weirdo mind-fuck where he pretended he cut their faces off, and spent innumerable years torturing him and causing utter havoc in his life and in his city.  Batman would need to forget the hero schtick and willingly lay down with a murderous psychopath.

Seems impossible to me that the man who’s committed his life to justice would be able to bury those feelings completely and shack up with his nemesis.

I’m not saying you can’t enjoy the pairing. Folks are allowed to like whatever ships they like! I’m just saying I don’t personally buy it.

Sexuality Headcanon: pan
Gender Headcanon:
male
A ship I have with said character:
HarleyxJoker.
A BROTP I have with said character:
The Clown Prince doesn’t have bros because he’s convinced he’s better than absolutely everyone who isn’t Batman. And Batman can’t be his bro because he hates him more than anything.
A NOTP I have with said character:
BatmanxJoker. Like, I *get* it but there’s no way in Hell Bruce would be down with that.Joker totally gets off on making Batman uncomfortable. If he was actually into it, it wouldn’t be any fun at all.
A random headcanon:
Rarely sleeps, has a central tremor due to his dip in clown-a-fying chemicals, subsists primarily on junk food and booze, fairly artistically talented, incredibly short attention span, legitimately has no friggin’ clue who he was before his accidental plummet at Ace Chemicals.
General Opinion over said character:
When Joker is written well, he’s my absolute favorite villain. Sadly, I feel like a lot of writers don’t do him justice. At all. He just ends up being a parody of himself. Same goes for Harley Quinn.
