When he’s written well, he’s three dimensional. When he’s not, he’s just a nutbag who blows stuff up for no reason. Or rips his face off because…well, no one ever explained why.
See, that is what makes me sad. He hasn’t been three dimensional since Dini and Timm stopped playing with him (minus the first two arkham games but that’s a whole ‘nother story)
He’s had a few good moments but, mostly? Meh. Morrison managed to do something semi interesting with him in Batman and Robin towards the end. But I hated R.I.P. Although, compared to weird faceless Joker, that Joker was OK. It always can get worse, apparently.
The Arkham games (and comics) are a bright spot in a rather bleak canon.
