Kurt gives himself a light dusting of chalk and gets ready for his routine on Parallel Bars for Kamden ^______^
By now, onlookers and professional commentators–having somewhat overcome the initial novelty of Kurt’s appearance at the Olympics–start to get psyched up for his events and a hush falls over the stands. There is a camera trained on his face and a giant flat screen treats everyone including viewers at home to a close-up of this exciting indigo man perched and trying to force down a grin for the sake of concentration on that task at hand.
(every time I draw him, the deep squat gets deeper. ogod, he’s too powerful)
This is for all of the Momstique fans out there. And to the Kitty fans, I’m so sorry for giving you a cute moment between her and Kurt and then pulling the rug from under you. I promise that future comics with Kitty will make up for this.
This comic was partially inspired by a scene in X-Men Forever #17 in which Mystique disguises herself as a newspaper photographer to snap a photo of her children, Nightcrawler and Rogue, without them being aware it was her.
For the record, I don’t condone Mystique’s behavior at all, but it does kinda tug at my heartstrings in a way because she has to disguise herself in order to get photos of her son. And before you ask, Kurt didn’t notice the change in “Kitty’s” eyes because he was more focused on making sure both his face and medal were in the frame.
